Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is well aware of the importance of timing, both on and off the field. Known for excelling in systems that rely on rhythm and timing, Cousins has also proven to be adept at negotiating lucrative contracts. With career earnings exceeding $185 million as a Viking, Cousins has established himself as one of the league’s premier quarterbacks.
In light of his recent injury, Cousins took to social media to provide an update on his recovery, signaling his readiness for contract negotiations. Despite a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers, Cousins managed to finish the season with a 4-4 record. While this marked the third consecutive season without a winning record for the Vikings, Cousins ended the season on a high note with a three-game winning streak.

As Cousins’ one-year, $35 million contract is set to expire on March 13, negotiations for a new deal are expected to commence at the NFL Scouting Combine. ESPN projects Cousins to land a $50 million contract, with potential suitors including the Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Tennessee Titans.

However, the Vikings’ current front office is reportedly hesitant to offer Cousins a fully guaranteed contract, signaling a potential impasse in negotiations. While general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has expressed a desire to retain Cousins, the possibility of a reset at the quarterback position adds an element of uncertainty to the situation.
