Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is set to participate in the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game this weekend at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind. Ahead of the event, Stroud appeared on Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons’s podcast, The Edge, and shared a surprising story about his basketball background.
Stroud, who attended Rancho Cucamonga High School in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., claims to have outperformed a Miami Heat star during his high school basketball days. According to Stroud, he scored 40 points against Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Adolfo Camarillo High School, and he even provided video evidence.
In the video, Stroud pointed out Jaquez as No. 24 on the opposing team and asserted that he scored 40 points in that game, although Parsons jokingly suggested it was a junior varsity game. “You know who the star player on the Miami Heat is right now, other than Jimmy Butler? Jaime Jaquez.

That game I scored 40 points was on him… Stop playin’ with me bro,” said Stroud. “You see what I’m doing against NBA level talent?” Despite ultimately choosing football and attending Ohio State, Stroud was selected as the No. 2 pick in the 2023 NFL draft and won Rookie of the Year with the Houston Texans. Nevertheless, he confidently shared his basketball past with Parsons, and fans are eager to see him perform at the Celebrity All-Star Game.
