A few Raptors players may not have contracts that are guaranteed to them in the future.
The Toronto Raptors are a team that is going through a change. This season, the team decided to go into a full rebuild by trading Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby, after holding onto several of its roster pieces for years in the hopes of being competitive.
The end product of the transactions is a roster with plenty of flexibility and one or two solid long-term pieces. Though Scottie Barnes is undoubtedly a star in the making, Toronto’s management may view Barnes as the only player who is untouchable.
These three players are the most likely to have their roles altered for the remainder of the season out of all the players still on the Raptors roster.
Chris Boucher
Chris Boucher is a player that didn’t play a lot of minutes in the Raptors’ rotation already. With just 14.0 minutes per game as of this writing, he is currently ranked 17th out of all the players who have suit up for Toronto this season.
Boucher has not played since a week ago against New Orleans, with Toronto’s last three games ending in a DNP. Boucher will play against San Antonio at home on Monday night. He had already been mostly removed from the rotation, and his performance the previous week raises the possibility that he may end the season on the bench.
Since the 2020–21 season, when he placed sixth in the MIP voting, Boucher’s production has either decreased or remained unchanged in a number of significant statistical categories. It’s impossible to predict what his future holds with the Raptors.
