Patriots Sign WR Kawaan Baker to a Futures Contract…
The New England Patriots announced today that they have signed WR Kawaan Baker to a futures contract.
The New England Patriots have announced the signing of wide receiver Kawaan Baker to a futures contract. Baker, aged 25, originally joined the NFL as the 255th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints, hailing from South Alabama.
Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 210 pounds, he began his rookie season on the practice squad before being elevated to the active roster for two games. Notably, he contributed on special teams against Miami and Carolina in late 2021, securing a special team tackle against the Dolphins.
Despite facing challenges, including an NFL suspension leading to his release from the Saints in 2022, Baker remained resilient, spending time with the Green Bay practice squad before rejoining New Orleans later that year. However, he was released again before the start of the 2023 regular season after participating in training camp with the Saints.
Now, the Patriots have offered him a futures contract, providing him with another opportunity to prove his capabilities in the league.
