In the wake of Jason Kelce’s headline-making shirtless appearance during a recent Kansas City Chiefs-Buffalo Bills game, his mother, Donna Kelce, affectionately known as “Mama Kelce” among fans, has opened up about her candid reaction to her son’s spirited antics. Speaking to People, Donna revealed that she was “not at all” taken aback by Jason’s behavior during the game on January 21. She disclosed that this wasn’t the first instance of him going shirtless at a game, noting that he tends to reserve this playful move for what she described as “special moments.” With the conclusion of the NFL season for the Philadelphia Eagles center, Donna expressed that Jason can now “finally let his hair down” and showcase a more carefree side of himself that he typically keeps in check while working.
Jason Kelce, 36, attended the Chiefs-Bills game to support his younger brother, Travis Kelce, who plays as a tight end for the Chiefs. On their podcast, New Heights, Jason shared that his decision to go shirtless was a spontaneous act inspired by the spirited atmosphere of the Bills Mafia, the moniker for Bills fans. He recounted how, upon entering the box shared with their parents, his wife Kylie, and Travis’ girlfriend Taylor Swift, he felt compelled to join the crowd. Jason mused that by taking off his shirt, he could immerse himself in the Buffalo Bills pageantry and become akin to his fellow Bills Mafia enthusiasts.
While suspecting that his wife might not have been thrilled with his impromptu decision, Jason’s parents appeared to find his antics amusing. A viral photo captured Jason celebrating shirtless during the game, and his father, Ed Kelce, shared a close-up of the image on Instagram. In a playful manner, Ed later posted another picture, humorously superimposing his son onto a screenshot from the 1995 film Braveheart with the caption, “Jason fighting for Scotland’s freedom.”
