Noteworthy Development: Houston Texans’ Bobby Slowik to Interview for Three Head Coach Positions…

Despite experiencing a decisive defeat in the NFL Divisional Playoffs over the weekend, the Houston Texans’ offensive coordinator, Bobby Slowik, has emerged as a highly sought-after candidate.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Slowik is set to meet with the Washington Commanders, Atlanta Falcons, and Seattle Seahawks as he explores potential head coaching opportunities. This comes after the 36-year-old offensive mind has already interviewed with the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers.

Having spent his inaugural season as the Texans’ offensive coordinator, Slowik, who is part of the coaching lineage under Kyle Shanahan, played a pivotal role in overseeing significant improvements in the team’s offensive performance. The Texans finished 12th in total yards and 13th in points scored, with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud delivering an impressive debut season under Slowik’s guidance.

Slowik’s widespread interest is hardly surprising, given his prior role as the passing-game coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers in 2022 and his three-year tenure as an assistant under Shanahan from 2019 to 2021.

His coaching journey also includes a previous stint in Washington as a defensive assistant, where he worked alongside coaching luminaries such as Kyle Shanahan, Matt LaFleur, Mike McDaniel, and Sean McVay under the esteemed Mike Shanahan.

Among the five teams expressing interest, the Atlanta Falcons are currently considered favorites to secure the services of six-time Super Bowl champion head coach Bill Belichick. Washington, on the other hand, appears focused on Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.

In light of his successful track record and alignment with young quarterback Bryce Young and the Panthers, it would not be surprising if Bobby Slowik secures a coveted head coaching position in the near future.
