The Seahawks, in their first head coaching search since 2010, have conducted initial interviews with several candidates and are now progressing to a second round with five notable names. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reveals that the list includes Panthers’ defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, Raiders’ DC Patrick Graham, Giants’ offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, Rams’ DC Raheem Morris, and Cowboys’ DC Dan Quinn. Pelissero also notes that this list may expand as the process unfolds.
Among the candidates, Dan Quinn stands out due to his prior association with the Seahawks as defensive coordinator from 2013-2014 and defensive line coach in 2009-2010. Despite the Cowboys’ postseason challenges, Quinn remains a serious contender for the Seahawks’ head coaching position.
The defensive side of the ball is well-represented among the candidates, with Evero, Graham, and Morris also possessing defensive backgrounds. Ejiro Evero, the Panthers’ defensive coordinator, has garnered interest from multiple teams due to his success with the Broncos. Raheem Morris, with prior NFL head coaching experience, has been linked to several openings beyond Seattle. Patrick Graham, whose coaching career dates back to 2009, has served as a DC for the Dolphins, Giants, and Raiders. With a dramatic defensive turnaround in Las Vegas, Graham’s stock has risen.
Mike Kafka, the only candidate with an offensive background, draws attention due to his inclusion in the list. Despite challenges during the 2023 season, Kafka has retained his position as the Giants’ offensive coordinator for 2024. His second consecutive year receiving head coaching interest indicates his standing in the coaching landscape.
Notably absent from the second interview list is former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, who has been connected to the Seahawks in recent days. Vrabel’s interviews with the Falcons and Chargers suggest potential competition for his services. The Seahawks, adhering to NFL rules, cannot conduct in-person interviews with coaches on current NFL staff until after the completion of the divisional round. Given this restriction and the ongoing evaluation of multiple candidates, the Seahawks’ coaching search is expected to continue over the coming weeks.
