Titans Continue Coaching Search with Virtual Interviews for Defensive Coordinator Aaron Glenn and Offensive Coordinator Brian Johnson

The Tennessee Titans continued their search for a new head coach by virtually interviewing Detroit defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn on Friday night. Glenn becomes the ninth candidate to be considered in the Titans’ extensive coaching hunt. The team previously conducted an interview earlier in the day with Philadelphia offensive coordinator Brian Johnson.

Aaron Glenn, who has been the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions since 2021, is set to coach against Tampa Bay in the NFC divisional round on Sunday. Notably, he was recognized as the top coordinator in the league, according to an NFL Players Association survey. With experience coaching defensive backs in New Orleans and serving as assistant defensive backs coach in Cleveland, Glenn’s football journey includes a 15-season playing career. He was the 12th overall pick in the 1994 NFL Draft by the Jets and earned three Pro Bowl selections during his playing days with Houston, Dallas, Jacksonville, and the Saints.

Titans’ controlling owner, Amy Adams Strunk, has emphasized casting a wide net in the search to replace former coach Mike Vrabel, who was fired after six seasons.

The Titans also interviewed Brian Johnson, the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles. Johnson transitioned to offensive coordinator in 2023 after coaching quarterbacks for Philadelphia in 2021 and 2022. His coaching career began in 2010 at Utah, where he also played quarterback, and he later coached at Mississippi State and Florida.

The coaching search has seen interviews with various candidates, including Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, offensive coordinators Thomas Brown (Carolina Panthers) and Bobby Slowik (Houston Texans), as well as Antonio Pierce, who has since been hired as the Las Vegas Raiders’ head coach. The Titans have also spoken to Mike Macdonald (Baltimore Ravens), Brian Callahan (Cincinnati Bengals), and Mike Kafka (New York Giants) in their pursuit of a new leader for the team.
