Following their interview with Antonio Pierce, the Raiders’ interim coach, the Titans will make their ultimate selection known.
NASHVILLE: Antonio Pierce, the interim coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, conducted an interview with the Tennessee Titans leadership on Saturday in order to fill the head coaching position left vacant by the team’s split from Mike Vrabel. After Josh McDaniels was fired by the Raiders, 45-year-old Pierce was hired as head coach.
He led the squad to an upset win against the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas, closing with a record of 5-4. While they continue to interview other candidates, Pierce is weighing his options, and the Raiders are thinking about removing the interim tag from him.
Before coming to Arizona State in 2018 as the linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator, Pierce was the head coach of Long Beach Poly High School in California. Between 2018 and 2021, he was employed at Arizona State, where he advanced to the position of Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator. He then became a member of the Raiders.
The Giants’ Mike Kafka and the Bengals’ Brian Callahan were the offensive coordinators the Titans interviewed on Friday. At least nine coaches have been contacted by the Titans for interviews: Callahan, Kafka, Pierce, Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson of the Detroit Lions, Mike Macdonald of the Baltimore Ravens, Dan Quinn of the Dallas Cowboys, Bobby Slowik of the Houston Texans, and Brian Johnson of the Philadelphia Eagles.
