David Moyes has strongly hinted that Mohammed Kudus will likely start in the match against Aston Villa on Sunday. Moyes doesn’t typically describe new signings as immediately ready to join the first-team lineup, but he seems to have made an exception for Kudus.
The Ghanaian international has a good chance of making his first Premier League start for West Ham United, as per Moyes’ press conference comments.
Kudus made a significant impact by scoring a brilliant goal against Newcastle before the international break. Although it’s unclear who will be replaced to accommodate Kudus, his impressive performances this season in limited starts, mainly in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League, have earned him this opportunity. Moyes stated, “He is very close to playing. Sometimes players come in at different levels of fitness, but Mo could play now and he has been playing.
He’s been playing for Ghana and he came off the bench [against Newcastle] and made a brilliant impact for us, and that’s what we need. We need more than eleven players. We need a group of players who, when called on, can make a difference.”
