Simone Biles recently opened up about the emotional challenges she faced at the onset of her long-distance relationship with husband Jonathan Owens, following their 2023 wedding. The couple’s newlywed bliss was disrupted when Jonathan, a professional football player for the Green Bay Packers, had to relocate shortly after their wedding due to a career move.
Expressing her vulnerability, Simone shared that tears were a common occurrence during this period. Despite being aware that both she and Jonathan lead busy lives, the gymnast lamented the difficulty of being apart and expressed a desire for more quality time together. “We’re both so busy, so it’s not like I’m sitting around waiting for him to come home, but it’s just hard,” she confessed.
Simone, however, has embraced her role as the Packers’ number one fan, attending matches to support her husband. In a Vanity Fair interview, she expressed admiration for the dedicated fanbase and the unique atmosphere at Lambeau, the renowned Green Bay stadium.
During a Packers versus Kansas City Chiefs game, Simone found herself in the same stadium as Taylor Swift, generating considerable excitement. Despite being in different sections, she acknowledged the fans’ enthusiasm and refrained from taking a selfie, recognizing the intensity of the game.
Reflecting on her journey from winning her first Olympic gold at 19 to experiencing the joy of her wedding, Simone described the latter as “the greatest feeling ever.” Jonathan proposed on Valentine’s Day in 2022, and they opted for a small civil ceremony in Houston, followed by a celebration in Mexico in May. Simone highlighted the challenge of maintaining intimacy and specialness in a high-profile event, humorously questioning the significance of inviting people from the distant past.
In the midst of her newfound roles as a wife and devoted football fan, Simone Biles navigates the complexities of love, distance, and the public eye, cherishing the unique and profound experiences life continues to unfold for her.
