Burnley’s manager, Vincent Kompany, has shed light on the uncertain futures of Manuel Benson and Anass Zaroury amid interest from Hull City. Hull City, eyeing January opportunities due to their promising league position, have reportedly secured a verbal agreement for Benson’s loan move to the MKM Stadium. Additionally, the Tigers are expressing interest in Zaroury, with owner Acun Ilicali supporting manager Liam Rosenior’s ambitions in the January transfer window.
Despite the Hull City deal being on the table, Benson is carefully considering other options, including offers from European clubs. Southampton, another Championship rival, has also expressed interest, but Burnley seems reluctant to engage in negotiations due to a prior disagreement concerning Nathan Tella.
While both Benson and Zaroury played crucial roles in Burnley’s Championship title and subsequent Premier League promotion last season, their appearances in the top flight this season have been limited to just two games combined. Hull City aims to capitalize on their lack of playing time.
Kompany, addressing the situation in a pre-match press conference ahead of Burnley’s FA Cup Third Round clash with Tottenham Hotspur, emphasized ongoing discussions with the players. He asserted belief in their abilities and clarified that the individual circumstances of Zaroury and Benson differ. The manager remains optimistic about finding a resolution for the duo’s short-term futures at Turf Moor.
