As the eagerly anticipated match against Crystal Palace approaches, Ange Postecoglou has once again extended an invitation to 18-year-old Tottenham Hotspur prospect, Jamie Donley, to participate in first-team training.
Tottenham has its sights set on extending their lead at the top of the Premier League table, with the potential to secure a five-point advantage in their forthcoming Selhurst Park encounter.
Tottenham has maintained an unblemished record in the Premier League this season, securing their seventh victory in nine matches in a recent face-off with Fulham.
Son Heung-Min has been in exceptional form for Spurs this season, particularly as a striker, having netted seven goals in as many games since his transition to a central position. Summer signing Alejo Veliz appears to have established himself as Son’s backup, having made appearances from the bench in Tottenham’s last three matches.
Nevertheless, Ange Postecoglou has yet another promising young forward at his disposal in the form of Jamie Donley. The 18-year-old has been spotted once again participating in first-team training at Hotspur Way, as evidenced in a video on Tottenham’s official YouTube channel.
Donley is seen alongside his fellow Spurs academy graduate, Alfie Dorrington, who has also been catching Postecoglou’s attention during recent training sessions. Donley has demonstrated exceptional form with the Under-21s team this season, amassing an impressive record of five goals and seven assists in just six appearances.
This English talent’s impressive performance has not gone unnoticed by Postecoglou, as Donley was named among the substitutes in Tottenham’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool. Spurs coach Wayne Burnett has lauded him as a “quality” forward, and insiders at Tottenham believe he has the potential to break into the first team during this season.
Under Postecoglou’s management, there appears to be a more accessible pathway for young players into the first team compared to previous years. Unlike managers like Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho, who were often reluctant to entrust younger talents, Postecoglou has demonstrated his willingness to provide them with opportunities.
Jamie Donley seems poised for a promising future, and it will be fascinating to see if he can accumulate playing time during the current season.
