Kipre sustained the injury while challenging for a high ball in the 86th minute of Tuesday evening’s match. He had to be substituted, and Carlos Corberan, the team’s manager, revealed that Kipre is scheduled for a scan on Wednesday. The extent of his injury is uncertain, but it could potentially keep him sidelined for several weeks or even months.
This injury adds to a series of significant injuries that West Bromwich Albion has suffered in recent weeks. Conor Townsend is unavailable due to sickness, and Semi Ajayi picked up an ankle injury during the previous Saturday’s draw with Plymouth.
Corberan expressed his concerns, saying, “It’s not the best news with him, or the injuries we are having. Ajayi played the last week ten minutes at the end of the game at the weekend and he suffered an injury in the ankle. Townsend was sick, he wasn’t involved today. Kipre looks like a serious injury, we’ll know something more on Wednesday. I don’t know if it’s going to be weeks or months. We need to see how much, but it is the more negative point of this game, to lose another player. We are losing many players, but in actions that aren’t muscle injuries. It is painful to lose players who decrease the possibilities in the team.”
Regarding Ajayi’s injury, Corberan mentioned that it would be a miracle if the defender is ready to play in the upcoming match against Coventry City. He explained, “On Monday he came into training and he couldn’t walk. He turned his ligament in the ankle. It will be a miracle if he is ready for Coventry. I don’t know what else. I don’t know if it’s bad luck, but it’s the most negative point now in the mind because you cannot enjoy the win when you have lost a player from the team.”
Kipre’s injury is a significant blow to West Bromwich Albion and Corberan, as the defender has been in excellent form since rejoining the club in the summer. Corberan added, “He’s an important player. We are working with him a lot to make sure his concentration is always high, but he has some very good conditions as a player – that’s why he’s playing, it’s why we believe in him, and that’s why it’s a pity to lose any player, but to lose someone playing in the first XI is even harder.”
