Head Coach discussed three ‘worrying’ setbacks for the Vikings ahead of Bears US Bank Stadium’s clash…

In order to secure a victory against the Vikings on Monday, the Bears face the challenge of overcoming their underdog status, and here are three crucial factors for achieving an upset at US Bank Stadium:

  1. Elevate the Passing Game: The Bears must focus on establishing a potent passing attack to outplay the Vikings. Despite Bears quarterback Justin Fields’ impressive combined 273 yards passing-rushing performance against the Lions, the team seeks a more dominant display from him as a pure passer. While Fields efficiently targeted DJ Moore against the Lions, the team needs increased production, aiming for more than the 169 yards achieved. Sustained contributions from tight end Cole Kmet and wide receiver Darnell Mooney are essential for Fields’ growth as a passer.
  2. Contain the Vikings’ Running Game: The Vikings, with new quarterback Josh Dobbs, have found success through their ground game, averaging 148.7 yards rushing per game and 4.4 yards per carry in Dobbs’ three starts. Despite the Bears boasting a league-low 3.4 yards per carry allowed and being second-best in allowing only 79.5 yards per game, they must maintain an overwhelming run defense to restrict the Vikings’ ground attack.
  3. Empower Khalil Herbert: The Bears’ offensive prowess relies heavily on the involvement of running back Khalil Herbert as both a runner and receiver. Herbert, who averaged an impressive 5.7 yards per touch last season, is integral to the team’s success. Despite returning from a month-long absence due to a sprained ankle, Herbert’s performance against the Lions demonstrated potential. Coach Matt Eberflus expressed confidence in Herbert’s upcoming performances, emphasizing the need for him to play a significant role to contribute to the Bears’ offensive strength.
