Coach Jon Scheyer and the Duke Blue Devils have struck gold in the transfer portal once again.
In a major move that’s already turning heads across the college basketball world, Duke has officially landed two of the most electric talents in the nation — Malik Presley and De’Shayne Montgomery — in a transfer portal double-scoop that immediately elevates the team’s outlook for next season.
Presley, a 6’7” dynamic wing out of Texas State, was one of the hottest names in the portal this spring. Known for his explosive athleticism, lockdown defense, and highlight-reel dunks, Presley averaged 17.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game last season and was named Sun Belt Player of the Year. He brings not just production, but also swagger and experience to a Duke roster already loaded with young talent.
Joining him is De’Shayne Montgomery, the silky 6’4” combo guard who turned heads during his breakout year at Northern Illinois. A natural scorer and creative playmaker, Montgomery averaged 19.3 points and 4.7 assists, shooting nearly 40% from three while showcasing an elite handle and clutch shot-making ability. He’s considered one of the most polished offensive players in the portal.
“These are two game-changing additions,” Coach Scheyer said in a statement Thursday morning. “Malik and De’Shayne bring maturity, toughness, and high-level skill. They’re ready to step into the Duke culture and make an immediate impact on both ends of the floor.”
The dual commitment marks another transfer portal win for Scheyer, who continues to blend elite freshman recruiting with strategic veteran additions. With Presley and Montgomery in the mix, Duke’s 2025 roster now features an ideal mix of experience, athleticism, and perimeter firepower.
Fans and analysts alike are already buzzing about the possibilities — and expectations will undoubtedly skyrocket.
With Cameron Indoor ready to erupt and a reloaded roster hungry for another deep NCAA Tournament run, the Blue Devils just became even more dangerous.
Blue Devil Nation, the future is now.
