CHICAGO — The Chicago Blackhawks have made another bold statement in their ongoing roster revamp, officially announcing the signing of rising star forward Bobby McMann, adding grit, speed, and scoring depth to their forward group ahead of the 2025 NHL season.
The 27-year-old McMann, formerly of the Toronto Maple Leafs, is coming off a breakout season in which he showcased his potential as a reliable two-way forward with a powerful shot and relentless motor. While financial terms and contract length were not immediately disclosed, sources indicate the deal is a multi-year agreement aimed at strengthening the Blackhawks’ middle-six attack.
“Bobby brings the kind of energy and compete level we’re looking for as we build toward long-term success,” said general manager Kyle Davidson. “He’s proven he can contribute in all situations and fits the identity we’re building here in Chicago.”
McMann joins a Blackhawks squad that’s being carefully constructed around superstar Connor Bedard, and his arrival marks yet another key piece in the team’s developing core. Known for his physical play and ability to drive the net, McMann gives Chicago an experienced forward who can complement younger linemates and help set the tone on both ends of the ice.
“I’m beyond excited to be joining the Blackhawks organization,” McMann said in his first statement as a Hawk. “This is a franchise with a winning tradition and a bright future, and I’m ready to do whatever I can to help bring success back to Chicago.”
After spending the early part of his career developing in the AHL and working his way into the NHL lineup in Toronto, McMann made the most of his opportunities last season, notching career highs in goals, assists, and ice time. His work ethic and physicality quickly made him a fan favorite and earned respect around the league.
With training camp around the corner, McMann is expected to compete for a top-nine role and provide much-needed depth scoring alongside the Blackhawks’ young core. His versatility and toughness could also make him a key piece on the penalty kill and in late-game situations.
This latest move reinforces the Blackhawks’ commitment to building a competitive, balanced team as they continue to transition from a full rebuild to a team with postseason aspirations.
