Buffalo Bills safety Taylor Rapp, initially feared to have a severe neck injury, is now in contention to play against the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend. Coach Sean McDermott provided the update, revealing that all medical tests have returned negative, indicating Rapp is in good condition.
Rapp sustained the injury during the Bills’ 32-6 victory over the New York Jets, colliding with defensive back Taron Johnson while tackling Jets running back Breece Hall.
Despite the initial severity of the situation and being placed on an immobilizing board, Rapp demonstrated movement in his hands before leaving the field in an ambulance. Fortunately, he didn’t require hospitalization, stayed at the stadium throughout the game, and was later sent home.
However, Johnson and fellow defensive back Dane Jackson are in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Starting safety Micah Hyde (stinger) and backup Cam Lewis (shoulder) are listed as day-to-day.
McDermott all but ruled out the activation of tight end Dawson Knox from injured reserve in the first week of eligibility after his wrist injury last month. The Bills, with a 6-5 record, are set to face the NFC East-leading Eagles before their bye week.
