The St. Louis Cardinals are currently dealing with injuries to key players during their spring training. On March 5, 2025, right fielder Jordan Walker, 22, sustained a minor knee injury after stepping on a sprinkler head during a game against the Washington Nationals. An MRI indicated irritation but no structural damage. Walker is expected to miss at least a week but should recover in time for further spring training games.
In addition, utility player Brendan Donovan underwent season-ending surgery in 2024 to repair a flexor tendon in his throwing arm. Despite the injury, Donovan is expected to be fully healthy for the 2025 season.
The Cardinals are also monitoring the status of center fielder Michael Siani, who was placed on the 10-day injured list in August 2024 due to a right oblique strain. His recovery timeline was uncertain at that time.
