In a significant recruiting victory, Virginia Tech football has secured a commitment from four-star safety Jahmari DeLoatch, who flipped his commitment from the University of Cincinnati. DeLoatch, a Chesapeake, Virginia native, had initially committed to Cincinnati in June but announced his decision to join the Hokies on Early Signing Day.
Standing at 5-foot-10 and weighing 160 pounds, DeLoatch is ranked as the eighth-best player in Virginia and becomes the third four-star commit in Virginia Tech’s 2025 class. His decision underscores the Hokies’ renewed focus on strengthening in-state recruiting ties under head coach Brent Pry.
DeLoatch cited consistent communication with Virginia Tech’s coaching staff and alignment with the program’s vision as key factors in his decision to flip his commitment. This move bolsters the Hokies’ defensive prospects and highlights their commitment to attracting top-tier local talent.
This commitment comes amid a broader context of player movements between Virginia Tech and LSU. Notably, former Virginia Tech cornerback Mansoor Delane transferred to LSU, as reported by Gobbler Country.
