The Philadelphia Phillies have made a notable addition to their lineup by signing veteran outfielder in free agency. The 31-year-old joins the team on a one-year deal worth $10 million, bringing his left-handed power to a lineup that already features Nick Castellanos.
Kepler, a long-time member of the Minnesota Twins, boasts a career-high 36 home runs and 90 RBIs in 2019. Despite dealing with injuries in 2023, he still managed a .253 batting average with eight home runs and 42 RBIs across 105 games.
Primarily a right fielder, Kepler’s arrival creates opportunities for a platoon scenario with Castellanos. The Phillies may also explore repositioning Castellanos to left field or even consider potential trade options to optimize roster depth.
Kepler’s left-handed bat offers a strategic complement to the Phillies’ lineup, boosting their offensive versatility as they continue to contend in the competitive National League.
