Breaking News: Mets Officially Confirm the Addition of the Eight-time All-Star’s Trade List…

The New York Mets are reportedly among the teams Nolan Arenado, the Cardinals’ superstar third baseman, would waive his no-trade clause to join this offseason. According to MLB.com’s John Denton, Arenado’s “wish list” also includes the Dodgers, Padres, Angels, Phillies, and Red Sox.

With Cardinals president John Mozeliak signaling an intention to trade Arenado, the eight-time All-Star has become a prime target. Arenado, 33, is under contract for three more seasons at $74 million but saw a dip in performance during 2024, hitting .272 with a .719 OPS, 16 home runs, and 71 RBIs.

For the Mets, adding Arenado could be transformative, especially if Pete Alonso departs. A potential scenario involves shifting Mark Vientos to first base while placing Arenado at third, bolstering their infield strength and lineup consistency.

The Mets now join a competitive race for Arenado, whose elite defense and veteran presence could reshape their roster heading into 2025.
