Good News: Phillies Officially Announce MLB’s World-Class Addition to Teams’ 2025 Roster Following the Departure of…

The Philadelphia Phillies have officially promoted to assistant pitching coach, solidifying their coaching staff for the 2025 season. The announcement follows the departure of former assistant pitching coach and director of pitching development Brian Kaplan, who recently joined the Arizona Diamondbacks as their pitching coach.

Lowy, 32, has been a key figure within the Phillies organization since 2021. His journey began as a part-time member of the player development department before earning a full-time role as a pitching development analyst in 2022. By 2023, he had advanced to upper-level pitching coordinator, and in 2024, he joined the major league staff as lead pitching development analyst. His promotion reflects his rapid rise and significant contributions to the team’s pitching strategy.

A graduate of Gettysburg College, Lowy brings both experience and familiarity to his new role. Prior to joining the Phillies, he worked alongside Kaplan at Cressey Sports Performance in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a renowned training facility for pitchers.

The Phillies’ pitching staff will also maintain continuity with Caleb Cotham returning for his fifth season as pitching coach and Cesar Ramos entering his second year as bullpen coach. This stability, combined with Lowy’s promotion, positions the team for continued success on the mound in 2025.

Brian Kaplan leaves behind an impressive legacy, having served as the Phillies’ assistant pitching coach for three seasons. Kaplan, a co-founder of Cressey Sports Performance, was brought into the organization by GM Sam Fuld. Notably, Fuld is preparing for a transition in 2026 as he steps back from his general manager duties to pursue an MBA at the Wharton School of Business and take on the role of Phillies president of business operations.

Lowy’s promotion marks a seamless transition for the Phillies, ensuring the team remains competitive while continuing to prioritize player development and analytics-driven pitching strategies. Fans can look forward to seeing how this coaching staff shapes the Phillies’ success in the upcoming season.
