Seattle Mariners utility player Dylan Moore has informed the team of his intention to depart, according to a report shared by former Mariners catcher Dan Wilson.
Dylan Moore, known for his versatility on the field, has been a crucial asset for Seattle, playing various positions, including outfield, second base, and shortstop. His ability to excel in multiple roles earned him a spot as a finalist for the American League’s utility player Gold Glove Award. This prestigious recognition, established in 2022, honors the best defensive utility players, with Brendan Donovan and DJ LeMahieu being the inaugural recipients.
Moore is one of three finalists for the 2024 American League utility player Gold Glove, competing against Willi Castro of the Minnesota Twins and Mauricio Dubón of the Houston Astros. While Moore’s defensive excellence has garnered praise, his recent revelation of wanting to leave the team has raised concerns within the Mariners organization.
The National League’s utility player finalists—Brendan Donovan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Kiké Hernández of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Jared Triolo of the Pittsburgh Pirates—won’t impact Moore’s chances, but his future with the Mariners now appears uncertain.

The Gold Glove Award, which has been given out since 1957, is determined by a combination of votes from Major League managers and coaches, who are restricted from voting for players on their own teams, and sabermetrics, which account for 25% of the selection process. The 2024 winners will be announced on November 3 during ESPN’s special broadcast of “Baseball Tonight” at 5:30 p.m. PT.
As the Gold Glove announcement approaches, the Mariners face the challenge of addressing Moore’s departure, which could leave a significant void in their roster heading into the offseason.
