Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has indicated that the team is reconsidering bringing back 31-year-old veteran defensive tackle after failing to secure a trade for star wide receiver Davante Adams.
With the Steelers currently holding a 4-2 record, Tomlin’s remarks come as the team looks to bolster its roster ahead of a crucial stretch in the season. While the focus has largely been on the offensive side of the ball, particularly with quarterback Justin Fields emerging as a key player, the potential return of Hargrave could significantly strengthen Pittsburgh’s defense.
Hargrave, a former third-round pick by the Steelers, had a standout tenure in Pittsburgh before signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. His ability to disrupt opposing offenses and provide a strong presence on the defensive line made him a fan favorite, and his return would bring much-needed experience and talent back to the squad.
In light of recent roster changes and missed opportunities in trade negotiations, Tomlin expressed that he is exploring all options to enhance the team. “We have to consider what’s best for our roster moving forward,” he said. “Bringing back a player of Javon’s caliber could be beneficial, especially after not landing Davante Adams.”
