The Los Angeles Rams have finally reached a mutual agreement to extend the contract of their 31-year-old superstar, likely in response to swirling trade rumors surrounding star wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
Fans had high expectations for the Rams this season following their surprising 10-7 record and playoff appearance in 2023. The team’s success was fueled by emerging young talent alongside veteran leaders such as quarterback Matthew Stafford and Kupp.
Recently, rumors circulated that Kupp could be traded, potentially to the Kansas City Chiefs, who are looking to bolster their receiving corps after losing Rashee Rice to an ACL injury. However, Rams wide receiver Tutu Atwell dismissed the trade speculation during an appearance on “Up & Adams,” stating that Kupp “ain’t going nowhere.”
Kupp’s 2021 season remains legendary, as he recorded 145 receptions for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns, leading the Rams to a Super Bowl victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Unfortunately, injuries have since hampered his availability, limiting him to just 21 games over the past two seasons.

Kupp has missed the Rams’ last two games due to an ankle injury, and while he hasn’t been placed on injured reserve, there were initial concerns he could be sidelined for an extended period.
Complicating matters for the Rams, Puka Nacua, the breakout rookie receiver from 2023, is also dealing with an ankle injury that is expected to keep him out for another month. With the team sitting at 1-3, they face a tough test this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, led by Jordan Love, at SoFi Stadium.
