The Detroit Lions have officially strengthened their roster, announcing two important moves on Thursday. Veteran wide receiver Allen Robinson has been signed to the 53-man active roster, while linebacker Abraham Beauplan has been added to the practice squad. These additions come at a crucial time as the Lions look to reinforce their team amid injuries.
Allen Robinson Joins Active Roster
Following the placement of Derrick Barnes and Marcus Davenport on injured reserve, the Lions had a vacant spot on their active roster, which has now been filled by Allen Robinson. Originally signed to the practice squad after roster cutdowns, Robinson is a seasoned wide receiver known for his reliability and versatility. While he only played one snap in the Week 3 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, the Lions see him as a valuable asset moving forward, particularly in games requiring a deeper receiver rotation.
Robinson, an 11-year NFL veteran, brings not only experience but also strong character and leadership to the locker room. He’s particularly known for his effectiveness as a run blocker, a skill that fits well with the Lions’ offensive scheme under head coach Dan Campbell. Lions general manager Brad Holmes expressed excitement about Robinson’s addition, stating that the team had long been interested in him.
“Allen Robinson was a guy we wanted to add a couple of years ago in free agency,” Holmes said. “It’s not just because he’s a Detroit native; he’s someone who can step in and contribute. We know he’s capable of playing at a high level, and it’s just a matter of how quickly he can get acclimated to our system.”

Abraham Beauplan Returns to the Practice Squad
In addition to Robinson, linebacker Abraham Beauplan has rejoined the Lions’ practice squad. Beauplan impressed during the preseason after joining the team midway through training camp. Despite his solid performance, the Lions initially prioritized other positions, keeping seven linebackers on the active roster. However, with Derrick Barnes now on injured reserve, Beauplan has been brought back to provide crucial depth at linebacker.
As the Lions gear up for Week 4, these moves give the team added flexibility and strength at two key positions. With Robinson providing a veteran presence at wide receiver and Beauplan offering depth at linebacker, the Lions are better positioned to handle the challenges ahead in the season.
