Done Deal!: Four-star Sensational Running Back Officially Commits to Florida State Over Miami, Georgia Tech, and Memphis…

Florida State football has faced some tough times in recent weeks, with losses to Georgia Tech, Boston College, and Memphis causing fans to question the state of the program.

It’s not just the fans feeling uneasy—some highly-rated recruits have also been wondering how Florida State would respond to this slow start. After an undefeated regular season and a conference championship last year, many expected the Seminoles to maintain their dominance this season.

Of course, a lot of last year’s contributors are now in the NFL, but the program needs to keep building for the future by bringing in top talent.

Head coach Mike Norvell has always stressed the importance of creating the right culture and finding players who fit Florida State’s vision. Norvell has been feeling the pressure, particularly after starting 0-3 for the second time in five years.

The Seminoles have faced plenty of adversity, especially after star quarterback Jordan Travis suffered a season-ending injury in November 2023. To make matters worse, the team was controversially left out of the College Football Playoff in favor of one-loss Alabama.

Recruiting had taken a hit too, with four-star defensive end Javion Hilson and four-star defensive tackle Myron Charles decommitting—Charles even flipped to Texas. Florida State was desperate for some positive momentum.

That much-needed boost finally came on Saturday when four-star running back Byron Louis from American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, officially committed to the Seminoles. He chose Florida State over Miami, Georgia, and Wisconsin.

Louis is a high school teammate of current Seminole commit, four-star cornerback Greg Thomas, and is coached by former NFL star Patrick Surtain Sr., who is now the defensive backs coach at Florida State.

In 2023, Louis racked up 1,200 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns for American Heritage. He took an official visit to Florida State this summer and has consistently praised the program. With Florida State struggling in the run game this season, Louis’ commitment adds a much-needed boost of talent to the backfield.
