Good News: Seattle Kraken Officially Announced the Signing of the 31-year-old Experienced Top Star to Multi-year Extension…

The Seattle Kraken have officially announced a four-year contract extension with veteran defenseman Adam Larsson, securing one of their top blue-liners through the 2028-29 season.

Larsson’s new deal averages $5.25 million per year, locking in one of Seattle’s key players from the 2021 expansion draft for the foreseeable future. The 31-year-old Swedish defenseman has been a rock for the Kraken, appearing in 245 of 246 regular-season games over his first three seasons with the team. He has consistently anchored the top defensive pairing alongside Vince Dunn, taking on the toughest matchups against elite forwards across the NHL.

Larsson’s standout year with Seattle came in the 2022-23 season, when he posted a career-high 33 points, including eight goals. Serving as an assistant captain for the past two seasons, Larsson could be in the running to become the permanent captain under new head coach Dan Bylsma.

Larsson began his NHL career with the New Jersey Devils, spending five seasons there before being traded to the Edmonton Oilers ahead of the 2016-17 season. After five seasons in Edmonton, he was selected by Seattle in the expansion draft, quickly becoming a cornerstone of their defensive corps.

This extension solidifies Larsson’s role as a key leader for the Kraken as they continue building a competitive team.
