The Duke basketball program remains in the hunt for one of the nation’s top recruits, Caleb Wilson, but faces stiff competition from several other schools.
Duke head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff are actively pursuing the five-star forward from Holy Innocents Episcopal School in Georgia. However, other programs have ramped up their efforts to woo the 6-foot-9, 205-pound standout.
This week, two prominent programs made in-home visits with Wilson. First-year BYU head coach Kevin Young, accompanied by assistant coach and former Duke player Chris Burgess, visited Wilson on Wednesday. The following day, UNC head coach Hubert Davis and assistant Brad Frederick made their pitch to the highly coveted recruit.
Ranked No. 4 overall in the 2025 class by 247Sports Composite, Wilson has had a Duke basketball offer on the table since last summer. Although he hasn’t taken an official visit to Duke yet, he listed the Blue Devils in his top 12 schools in July, alongside Alabama, Arkansas, UNC, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio State, USC, and several others.
While Duke is still a contender for Wilson, Scheyer’s staff may have stronger chances with other top recruits, including five-star forwards Cameron Boozer from Columbus High School (Fla.) and Koa Peat from Perry High School (Ariz.). Both players rank among the top five prospects in the 2025 class, and Duke is heavily involved in their recruitment.
Duke’s ongoing pursuit of top talent shows the program’s commitment to remaining a powerhouse under Scheyer’s leadership, despite the growing competition from rival schools.
