Breaking: Head Coach Mike Norvell Shares Brutal Message To Florida State Football as He Reacts to Disheartening Incident From Loss to Georgia Tech …

Florida State’s season opener didn’t go as planned for head coach Mike Norvell and his team. The Seminoles suffered a shocking 24-21 defeat against Georgia Tech in Ireland, marking their first regular-season loss since 2022. Despite being heavy favorites, FSU struggled on both the offensive and defensive lines—units that were hyped as among the best in the nation. Georgia Tech, coming off a 7-6 season under second-year head coach Brent Key, outperformed FSU by rushing for 190 yards compared to the Seminoles’ 98. The Yellow Jackets also recorded seven tackles for loss and a sack.

This game was supposed to be FSU’s chance to silence critics after a controversial College Football Playoff snub last season. However, the loss has temporarily muted the noise coming out of Tallahassee. In response, Norvell took full responsibility for his team’s performance and vowed to better prepare his players in a passionate post-game speech.

“Everyone knows we’re better than what we just showed on that field,” Norvell said. “And that’s on me. I’m going to do a better job preparing you and pushing the standard…”

Norvell continued, “Be who you say you want to be. Don’t let a disappointing result change what this football team is all about…”

With a long season ahead, Norvell must use this loss as motivation to get his team back on track. The expanded 12-team playoff format offers hope, as a single loss no longer dooms a season. Florida State will have a chance to bounce back when they face Boston College at home on Monday, September 2, at 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). The Eagles narrowly lost to FSU last year, falling just two points short of an upset against the then No. 3-ranked Seminoles. FSU enters the game as a 15.5-point favorite, according to ESPN Bet.
