A young New England Patriots player is unexpectedly out for the entire 2024 season due to a mystery injury.
The New England Patriots are facing a significant challenge as they lose a key player for the 2024 season. With Jerod Mayo stepping into his first year as head coach, the team has many questions to address.
After a disappointing 4-13 record last season, the Patriots have made several aggressive moves to upgrade their roster. Despite these efforts, the 2024 season remains an uphill battle. As training camp progresses, the team has been hit with a major setback: a season-ending injury.
Patriots News: Jake Andrews Placed on Injured Reserve
According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the New England Patriots have placed interior offensive lineman (IOL) Jake Andrews on injured reserve. The nature of Andrews’ injury has not been disclosed, but he has not participated in practice this year. In a corresponding move, the Patriots signed long snapper Tucker Addington, who was last with the team in 2022.
Selected in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Troy, the 24-year-old Andrews had a limited role as a rookie, starting in just one game and primarily contributing on special teams. He was expected to be a viable backup for the 2024 season, but this injury has ended those hopes.

Training camp is a time for battles and competition, and Andrews’ absence from the field has eliminated his chances of making the 53-man roster this season. The Patriots cannot afford to keep an inactive player on the roster, as every spot is crucial.
