The Texas Longhorns have several top-tier targets remaining in the 2025 recruiting cycle, with five-star Ball (Galveston, TX) safety Jonah Williams being one of the most important. Williams is set to visit the 40 Acres this weekend, along with other elite prospects.
Fortunately, the Horns will soon know his decision. According to On3, Williams has set his commitment date for August 24. He will choose between Texas, Oregon, Texas A&M, LSU, and USC.
Williams is currently ranked as the No. 10 player in the nation, the No. 1 safety, and the No. 3 player in Texas, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
Last season, as a junior, Williams excelled on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he had 20 catches for 474 yards and eight touchdowns, and he rushed for 144 yards and two TDs. Defensively, he recorded 58 tackles, four tackles for loss, and four interceptions. He also scored on three pick-sixes and returned two punts and two kicks for touchdowns.
Williams is also a top baseball prospect and had Texas A&M high on his list, partly due to his admiration for new Texas Skipper Jim Schlossnagle.
With Schlossnagle now in Austin, it could positively influence Texas’s chances with Williams.
Currently, Texas does not have a commitment from a safety prospect. However, four-star corner commit Kade Phillips is projected to potentially play that position at the next level.
