SHOCKING UPDATES: Spurs GM Brian Wright Explains Spurs’ Intriguing Decision on the $2.2 Million Star…

The San Antonio Spurs made some strategic moves on Tuesday by signing a couple of savvy minimum-contract players. With most of the big-name free agents already secured by other teams, the Spurs turned to more cost-effective options and found success. They brought back Georgian-American forward Sandro Mamukelashvili and signed another experienced reserve player.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Mamukelashvili is returning to San Antonio on a one-year minimum deal.

“Free agent F Sandro Mamukelashvili has agreed on a one-year, $2.2 million deal to return to the San Antonio Spurs, sources tell ESPN,” Wojnarowski reported. “George Roussakis and Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports confirmed the deal.”

Last season, Mamukelashvili averaged 4.1 points per game on 47.1% shooting, with 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 9.8 minutes of play. The Seton Hall alum saw more action later in the season as injuries affected the Spurs’ lineup, demonstrating good chemistry with franchise star Victor Wembanyama.

The Spurs also re-signed center Charles Bassey, as reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

“Sources: The San Antonio Spurs are re-signing center Charles Bassey to a fully guaranteed one-year, $2.2 million contract,” Charania tweeted. “The deal was negotiated by Young Money APAA CEO Adie von Gontard and agent Daveed Cohen.”

Bassey, who has been with the Spurs for the past two seasons, averaged 3.3 points on 72.5% shooting, with four rebounds and 1.1 assists last season. However, his performance has been limited by knee injuries over the past couple of years.

These moves reflect the Spurs’ strategic approach to building a competitive team without breaking the bank
