The Vegas Golden Knights have announced the signing of defenseman Robert Hagg and forward Callahan Burke to one-year contracts, providing a significant boost ahead of the new NHL season.
New Additions to the Roster
Robert Hagg has signed a one-year, one-way contract worth $775,000. Hagg, who spent the 2023-24 season with the Anaheim Ducks and their AHL affiliate, the San Diego Gulls, signed a similar deal with Anaheim last summer. During his time with the Ducks, Hagg appeared in five NHL games and did not register a point but played in 47 games with the Gulls, where he tallied three goals and 12 points.
Originally selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round (No. 41 overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, the Uppsala, Sweden native made his NHL debut in the 2016–17 season. Over parts of seven NHL seasons with the Flyers, Buffalo Sabres, Florida Panthers, Detroit Red Wings, and Ducks, Hagg has accumulated 16 goals and 63 points in 343 career games. He also has three assists in 14 career Stanley Cup Playoff contests.
Callahan Burke, on the other hand, has signed a one-year, two-way contract also worth $775,000. Burke spent the 2023-24 season with the Carolina Hurricanes and the Colorado Avalanche’s AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles. He appeared in one NHL game. Despite being traded to Carolina last fall, Burke continued with the Eagles due to the Hurricanes lacking an AHL affiliate. With the Eagles, he recorded 16 goals and 39 points in 57 games and added three points in three Calder Cup playoff contests.
After four years at the University of Notre Dame, where he served as captain in the 2019-20 season, Burke signed his first professional contract in 2020. He spent two years playing solely with the Eagles before making his NHL debut last year, recording no points in two games.

Boost for the Golden Knights
These signings represent strategic moves by the Golden Knights to bolster their roster depth. With Hagg’s extensive NHL experience and Burke’s promising performance in the AHL, the team is adding valuable assets to their lineup. Head Coach Bruce Cassidy will be looking to integrate these new players effectively as they prepare for the upcoming season.
