Greg McElroy Names Week 0 Game with College Football Playoff Implications.
Greg McElroy shares the excitement for the 2024 college football season with fans everywhere.
This year, the College Football Playoff is expanding to a 12-team format, a significant change from the previous four-team structure. Last year, the Michigan Wolverines, Washington Huskies, Texas Longhorns, and Alabama Crimson Tide made the playoffs.
On the latest edition of Always College Football, McElroy discussed some under-the-radar games for the 2024 season. One game he highlighted with significant playoff implications is between the Florida State Seminoles and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Week 0.
“Florida State at Georgia Tech is a playoff implication game,” McElroy said. “There’s no doubt about it. Florida State-Georgia Tech, Georgia Tech is dangerous. In the ACC, Georgia Tech is among the teams that can beat anybody. Florida State has legitimate playoff expectations, as they should.”
Though this matchup might not typically be associated with the playoff conversation, McElroy believes it will have a significant impact.
“That game has massive playoff implications,” McElroy emphasized. “People won’t necessarily phrase it that way because Florida State will probably be a heavy favorite, but that game is potentially significant as we fast-forward to the end of the year and evaluate the playoff picture.”
