Pittsburgh Pirates Aim to Conclude Homestand Strongly Against Minnesota Twins
After securing two wins out of three against the Los Angeles Dodgers this week, the Pittsburgh Pirates are set to wrap up their homestand on a high note against the Minnesota Twins.
The Twins arrive in Pittsburgh having lost four of their last five games, including a sweep by the New York Yankees where they were outscored 22-11. With a season record of 33-29, the Twins sit in third place in the AL Central. They’ve maintained consistent performance over the first two months, posting a 14-12 record in April and 16-12 in May, though they’ve started June with a 1-4 record. They have performed slightly better at home (16-13) compared to on the road (17-16).
Last season, the Pirates lost their only series against the Twins in mid-August, dropping two out of three games in Minneapolis.
Currently, the Pirates hold a 29-33 record. Their recent series win against the Dodgers was highlighted by strong performances from young pitchers Jared Jones and Paul Skenes, who effectively contained the Dodgers’ formidable lineup.
Despite the Twins not appearing as strong as the Dodgers on paper, the Pirates will need to stay vigilant against Minnesota’s lineup this weekend.
