Former Duke Guard Jaylen Blakes Joins Stanford
Jaylen Blakes, a former guard for Duke men’s basketball, has committed to Stanford, as announced by the university on Friday. Blakes becomes the first graduate transfer under head coach Kyle Smith’s leadership at Stanford.
“Jaylen Blakes brings significant athleticism and experience to our backcourt,” said Smith. “He can score, distribute effectively, and challenge defenses with his 3-point shooting.”
Blakes played in 83 games for the Blue Devils, averaging 2.2 points and 1.0 rebounds per game, and was a top defensive player last season.
“Defensively, Jaylen provides a tough, ball-guarding presence, essential for our defensive setup. His experience in the league will be beneficial as we move into the ACC,” added Smith.
Blakes, standing at six-foot-two, was highly ranked among New Jersey’s 2021 high school class by various recruiting services and is the fourth player to transfer to Stanford this offseason.
