Breaking: Miami Hurricanes Loss Another Sensational Star Player Due To…

Four-Star WR Waden Charles Decommits from Miami

In a significant blow to the Miami Hurricanes, four-star athlete Waden Charles has announced his decommitment from the program. The Palm Beach Central (Fla.) standout shared the news on his social media accounts on Thursday evening, signaling his departure from Miami.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Charles had committed to the Hurricanes in September 2023. However, his decision to move on opens the door for other programs to swoop in. Among the leading contenders are UCF and Arkansas. Charles has taken multiple unofficial visits to UCF and is set to return to Orlando on June 14. The Razorbacks are also slated to host him next weekend. Additionally, Tennessee is another school that has welcomed him for a visit this year.

As a junior, Charles demonstrated his prowess on the field by catching 30 passes for 478 yards and seven touchdowns.

Miami’s Current Recruiting Landscape

With Charles’ departure, Miami now has six commitments in the Class of 2025, but none at the wide receiver position. The Hurricanes are actively pursuing several top prospects to fill this void, including:

  • Dallas Wilson, a Top247 wide receiver from Tampa Bay Tech currently committed to Oregon
  • Jaime Ffrench, a five-star wide receiver from Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin
  • Vernell Brown III, a Top247 wide receiver from Orlando (Fla.) Jones
  • Joshua Moore from Pembroke Pines (Fla.) West Broward
  • Tyler Williams from Riverview (Fla.) Sumner

247Sports Scouting Report on Waden Charles

Waden Charles is described as a physical possession receiver who excels with his body control and reliable hands. While primarily recruited as a wide receiver, he has also shown potential as a big-framed safety. Standing just under 6-foot-2 and weighing 185 pounds as of spring before his junior season, Charles boasts a muscular build that is expected to develop further in college.

As a sophomore, he dominated a weaker district, amassing over 1,000 receiving yards in 10 games. Although he may not be the fastest on the field, his ability to vary speeds effectively creates separation, making him a deceptive route runner. Charles is particularly competitive in the air with a wide catch radius and the strength to beat press coverage. Despite limited catch-and-run opportunities when he isn’t the best athlete on the field, he should be viewed as a potential impact player in college, especially in crucial situations like third downs and the red zone.

Additionally, his experience on the defensive side of the ball could make him valuable on special teams, and there is potential for him to be considered for secondary roles depending on his development.

As Miami navigates the recruiting landscape to fill the gap left by Charles, the Hurricanes’ focus will be on securing top talent to bolster their future rosters.
