Breaking: Phillies’ Top Prospect Joins MLB Pipeline’s Top 100

Philadelphia Phillies’ farm system has received a significant boost with one of their top prospects finally making it into MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 prospect rankings. The Phillies’ No. 5 prospect, Starlyn Caba, has earned his spot among the elite young talents.

Over the past few seasons, the Phillies’ front office has excelled in bringing promising young players into the organization, enhancing the outlook of their farm system. Fans have eagerly followed the progress of first-round picks Aidan Miller and Justin Crawford, who have been excelling in Single-A. Now, another rising star, Starlyn Caba, is making waves in the Florida Complex League.

Caba’s Meteoric Rise

Eighteen-year-old Starlyn Caba, signed during the international signing period in January 2023, has quickly become a standout player. His impressive defense and advanced hitting approach have caught the attention of scouts, earning him the No. 5 spot on MLB Pipeline’s Phillies prospect rankings. Caba recently celebrated his first professional home run in his FCL debut.

Since joining the Florida Complex League, Caba has lived up to the hype. In 55 at-bats, the switch-hitter is batting .309 with 17 hits, one home run, and seven RBIs. He has also stolen nine bases and scored 13 runs. This performance has secured him the No. 100 spot in MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 prospect rankings.

Phillies’ Farm System Gains Recognition

With Caba’s inclusion, the Phillies now boast five prospects in the Top 100. Despite being sidelined for nearly a year, right-hander Andrew Painter remains at No. 19. Aidan Miller, another promising talent, is ranked No. 48 and is expected to climb higher by season’s end.

Mick Abel, ranked No. 61, has faced challenges this season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley but, at 22, still has the potential to reestablish himself as a top pitching prospect. Justin Crawford, ranked No. 63, is performing exceptionally well at High-A Jersey Shore and may soon advance to Double-A.

Caba’s entry into the Top 100 marks a turning point for the Phillies’ farm system, which was previously ranked among the lowest in minor league talent. This progress reflects the organization’s commitment to developing young talent alongside a veteran core at the major league level.

Looking ahead, right-handed pitcher George Klassen could be the next Phillies prospect to join the Top 100 in the upcoming updates later this summer.
