Troubling Injury Update for Boston Celtics’ Kristaps Porzingis Ahead of Eastern Conference Finals

The Boston Celtics, fresh off their early elimination of the Cleveland Cavaliers, are facing concerns about Kristaps Porzingis’ availability as they prepare for the Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics await the outcome of the Indiana Pacers vs. New York Knicks series to determine their next opponent, but it appears Porzingis won’t be back on the court right away.

Porzingis sustained a calf injury in Game 4 of the first-round series against the Miami Heat, which was later diagnosed as an Achilles injury. Following this, he was ruled out for the Eastern Conference Semifinals with a rich soleus strain.

Initially, there was hope that Porzingis would be fit to play at the start of the Eastern Conference Finals. However, as the Celtics finalize their preparations for the upcoming series, it has become evident that the star forward will remain sidelined for the beginning of the series.

ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, appearing on NBA Countdown, reported that Porzingis is expected to miss at least Games 1 and 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

On a positive note, Wojnarowski mentioned that the Celtics are optimistic about Porzingis returning at some point during the series, although there is no definitive timeline for his return.

The Celtics may find some relief in the condition of their potential opponents. If Indiana emerges victorious, it will be coming off a grueling seven-game series against the Knicks. If New York wins, their roster is already strained with injuries and heavy minutes, which could impact their efficiency against Boston.
