Sion James is laser-focused on his ultimate goal as he joins the Duke basketball program next season: winning a championship.
The newest Blue Devil is embracing the high expectations that come with joining the storied program. Shortly after his signing was announced, James posted on social media, expressing his excitement: “Can’t wait to head up to Durham and get number 6!!” This refers to Duke’s quest for their sixth National Championship.
James brings a new level of toughness to the team, boasting a 6-foot-6 frame and impressive defensive versatility. During his four years at Tulane, he proved his ability to guard multiple positions. His offensive game also made significant strides in his senior season, where he averaged 14.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, shooting 51.4% from the field and 38.1% from three-point range.

James joins Syracuse center Maliq Brown and Purdue forward Mason Gillis as part of Duke’s transfer class this offseason. They will complement returning players Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster, as well as the top-ranked freshman class in the country, led by Cooper Flagg.
Duke fans have already shown strong support for James and his family. Nearly 100 Blue Devil supporters have donated almost $4,000 to his charity, the Sion James Foundation, since his commitment.
