Following an incident during the closing moments of the game against Blackburn on April 13, Christopher John incurred the wrath of the Football Association (FA). Referee James Bell handed him a straight red card after protests from the Leeds bench regarding a penalty decision. Consequently, John has been slapped with a one-match ban and fined £2,000.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke acknowledged the emotions running high during crucial game moments but emphasized the need for discipline. He explained that his staff’s reactions stemmed from the intensity of the situation, referencing previous contentious incidents.
In an official statement released by the FA, it was confirmed that Christopher John’s behavior was deemed improper during the 97th minute of the Blackburn match. An independent Regulatory Commission imposed the sanctions after a subsequent hearing.
John will be serving his one-match touchline ban as Leeds travel to face QPR this Friday.
