QPR Manager Marti Cifuentes Issues Veiled Warning Ahead of Crucial Championship Match!
Leeds United is set to face off against QPR on Friday night, hot on the heels of their Monday night clash against Middlesbrough.
QPR’s head honcho, Marti Cifuentes, is gearing up for an all-out effort from his team as they aim to secure survival against Leeds United this Friday. The West London side took a significant stride towards securing a spot in next season’s Championship with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Preston North End at Loftus Road last Saturday.
This victory propelled QPR to the 18th spot on the Championship table. However, Sheffield Wednesday’s triumph over Blackburn Rovers on Sunday has left them just four points clear of the relegation zone. While relegation seems unlikely at this stage, QPR knows that clinching one more win would solidify their position in the second tier for another season.
Struggling on home turf throughout the season, QPR managed only their sixth win in front of their own fans against Preston. Cifuentes is urging his squad to capitalize on Saturday’s success by overcoming Leeds and crossing the survival threshold in their final home fixture of the campaign.
Reflecting on the club’s prospects of survival after Saturday’s victory, Cifuentes commented, “Right now, it feels like a significant step forward. But regardless of what lies ahead in the upcoming matches, we are committed to maintaining a winning mentality until the season’s end.”
He continued, “My mindset is clear: while today’s achievement marks progress in the right direction, the job isn’t complete until it’s done. Therefore, we must approach the last two games with unwavering determination.”
Cifuentes expressed satisfaction with Saturday’s result, acknowledging the pressure his team faced. “I’ll be able to rest easy tonight, that’s for sure. However, until the task is fully accomplished, we remain focused and committed. I’m immensely proud of the team’s performance under challenging circumstances,” he added.
