Latest Ravens News: The Ravens Confirmed The Departure Of Another Experienced Star To AFC West Rivals…

The Chargers Welcome J.K. Dobbins, Continuing the Ravens’ Exodus to LA!

In a move confirming the departure of another experienced star from the Baltimore Ravens, running back J.K. Dobbins inked a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday, extending the trend of former Ravens making their way to the West Coast.

Dobbins becomes the fourth ex-Ravens player to join the Chargers under the tenure of general manager Joe Hortiz, who transitioned to Los Angeles in February following an extensive stint with Baltimore, including a decade-long role as director of college scouting.

Despite Dobbins’ impressive average of 5.8 rushing yards per carry over the past four seasons, a league-leading stat among players with a minimum of 200 rushing attempts, his tenure has been marred by injuries. Limited to just nine games in the last three seasons, Dobbins endured setbacks, notably missing the entire 2021 season due to a left knee injury sustained in the preseason finale and playing only one game last year before tearing his Achilles tendon.

Reuniting with former Ravens teammate Gus Edwards in the Chargers’ backfield, Dobbins will also find familiarity with offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who was part of his early career in Baltimore.

Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has emphasized the need for substantial improvements in the team’s running game and a heightened physicality since assuming his role in January. Over the past three seasons, Los Angeles has relied on the run on just 37.1% of its offensive plays, a figure tied for the second lowest in the league. In contrast, Baltimore boasted a league-leading 225 carries of at least 10 yards during the same period.

Joining tight end Hayden Hurst and center Bradley Bozeman as former Ravens making the move to the Chargers, Dobbins’ arrival signals a continued reshaping of the team’s roster as they strive to enhance their performance on the field.
