Bills’ Josh Allen Reflects on Stefon Diggs’ Trade to Texans with Emotional Response!
When news broke of wide receiver Stefon Diggs’ trade from the Buffalo Bills to the Houston Texans on April 3, quarterback Josh Allen, like many others, learned about it simultaneously with the public, as Bills general manager Brandon Beane didn’t inform him beforehand.
Since the trade, Allen had remained silent about his feelings regarding the departure of one of his key teammates. However, during Thursday’s press conference, Allen finally opened up about the heartfelt exchange he had with Diggs following the news.
“Yeah, I exchanged texts with him and received one in return, expressing gratitude for everything he did for me,” Allen shared. “I’ll always hold a special place in my heart for him, and I’ll continue to cherish him like a brother, wishing him nothing but the best.”
Reflecting on their time together, Allen emphasized Diggs’ role in his development as a quarterback. “My enduring memory of Stef will be the receiver who played a significant role in shaping the quarterback I am today,” Allen added. “I’ll forever be grateful to him for that.”
While acknowledging the challenge of adjusting to the offensive changes without Diggs, Allen recognized the inevitability of such moves in the NFL. “I suppose that’s the nature of the business,” he remarked. “Entering my seventh year now, it’s just part of the game. My job isn’t to make personnel decisions; it’s to strive to be the best quarterback I can be and lead the team.”
Allen and Diggs shared the field in Buffalo for four seasons, with the Bills reaching the playoffs each year but falling short of the Super Bowl.
