Houston Texans Secure Former Ohio State Star Jeff Okudah
Adding another experienced player to their roster, the Houston Texans have officially announced the signing of former Ohio State standout, Jeff Okudah, marking his third NFL team since his debut.
Okudah, once heralded as a top-five overall pick, brings his talent and expertise to the Texans after reportedly agreeing to a one-year contract. According to reports from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and veteran reporter Albert Breer, the deal could reach a maximum value of $6 million.
This includes a signing bonus of $1.5 million and a base salary of $2.75 million, supplemented by additional per-game bonuses.
The journey for Okudah, the third overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, has seen him spend the initial three years of his professional career with the Detroit Lions. Despite being plagued by injuries, particularly during a challenging rookie season impacted by COVID-19, Okudah showcased his skills in nine games, six of which he started. His stats include 47 total tackles, four tackles for loss, two passes defended, and one interception in his debut NFL campaign.
