JUST IN: Deshaun Watson provides an injury update as Cleveland Browns quarterback steps up recovery…

Deshaun Watson is making strides in his recovery, returning to throwing for the first time since undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery. This development comes as he prepares for his third season with the Cleveland Browns.

The 28-year-old quarterback sustained a shoulder injury during the Browns’ game against the Baltimore Ravens last November, leading to the need for surgery. Since joining the Browns from the Houston Texans two years ago, Watson has only appeared in 12 games. With Joe Flacco, who guided the Browns to the playoffs, moving on to the Indianapolis Colts, Watson’s readiness for the upcoming season is crucial. Otherwise, Jameis Winston, formerly of the New Orleans Saints, will fill in after being signed in free agency.

Expressing optimism about his recovery, Watson recently spoke on the “QB Unplugged” podcast on Lockerverse, stating, “The situation is good… We have plenty of time to ramp up the throwing sessions and things like that, but everything is going pretty smooth.” He emphasized the importance of being in sync with medical professionals and physical therapists to ensure progress.

Echoing Watson’s positivity, General Manager Andrew Berry remarked on the encouraging progress of his recovery, stating, “All the medical work that’s been done… it’s been really positive. We’re not anticipating any issues.” Berry praised Watson’s dedication and highlighted his recent return to throwing as a significant milestone.

Head Coach Kevin Stefanski also expressed satisfaction with Watson’s rehabilitation, anticipating his participation in spring activities. Stefanski highlighted Watson’s past performances, particularly his resilience and ability to make critical plays under challenging circumstances. He emphasized the importance of Watson’s health and competitive spirit in driving his rehabilitation efforts.

Overall, the Browns organization remains optimistic about Watson’s recovery and his eventual return to peak form. As Watson continues his rehabilitation regimen, the team looks forward to his contributions on the field in the upcoming season.
