Pompey Manager Mousinho Provides Injury Updates Ahead of Easter Fixtures.
Injuries have been a persistent concern for Pompey throughout the season, although they have managed to maintain their position at the top of League One despite this challenge.
The training ground treatment room has seen a steady stream of players coping with long-term injuries, including Terry Devlin, Joe Morrell, Regan Poole, and Alex Robertson, who unfortunately won’t be available for the remainder of the season.
However, there is some positive news for John Mousinho as several players are either ready for selection for the Good Friday match against Wycombe or are making progress towards a return to action.
Mousinho commented, “The recent break has provided a boost to the squad and allowed some players to get closer to a return. Paddy Lane, after missing the Peterborough game, featured for Northern Ireland. Joe Rafferty needed a few more days to recover from illness.”
He added, “Kusini Yengi, returning from Australia, is in good shape and eager to play. Tino Anjorin has completed a full week of training without any issues and is available for selection. Callum Lang is progressing but may return for the Shrewsbury or Bolton game.”
“Connor Ogilvie has been in and out of training as a precaution but should return after the Easter fixtures. Tom Lowery’s return is being handled cautiously, with Bolton being a realistic target. Christian Saydee’s availability for Derby is uncertain, while Ben Stevenson is ready for Friday’s match.”
Looking ahead to the Easter fixtures, Mousinho emphasized the importance of focusing on each game without getting ahead of themselves. “We’ve faced significant games throughout the season, but they haven’t defined our journey. Our aim is to secure six points over Easter, starting with an away match against an in-form Wycombe side.”
He noted, “Wycombe has strengthened their squad effectively and poses a threat with their attacking style of play. We must remain vigilant and focused, as they have improved since the start of the year.”
