Leeds United faces significant injury setbacks leading up to their upcoming match against Watford on Good Friday.
Pascal Struijk, the defender for Leeds United, will miss the remainder of the Championship season due to hip surgery he underwent earlier this week. Initially expected to return shortly after his last game on Boxing Day, Struijk’s injury turned out to be more complex, necessitating surgical intervention. The 24-year-old is anticipated to resume training during pre-season.
Leeds has opted for surgery considering their depth in the center-back position, with Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon stepping in, supported by Liam Cooper and Charlie Cresswell, who are fit for the upcoming match against Watford.
Additionally, Leeds midfielder Darko Gyabi, currently on loan at Plymouth Argyle, is also set to miss the rest of the season following groin surgery. Gyabi’s return to West Yorkshire for rehabilitation follows his loan stint at Plymouth to aid their battle against relegation. Plymouth, positioned just two points behind Millwall in 16th place and one point ahead of QPR in 20th, still faces matches against both clubs before the season concludes.
A statement from Leeds United confirmed the surgeries for Struijk and Gyabi, expressing wishes for their speedy recovery and return to action with the team.
